Globally, efforts to lower the death rate from breast cancer are still concentrated on early detection, expanding access to high-quality care, and promoting the development of more potent treatments. Since 2008, worldwide breast cancer incidence has increased by more than 20%.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 670,000 deaths worldwide occurred as a result of breast cancer in 2022. This places it among the world's main causes of cancer-related death in women. Approximately 2.3 million women received a breast cancer diagnosis in the same year, underscoring the disease's pervasiveness throughout the globe.
